‘I’m Not Gonna Wait’: The story of how a former NFL player got his eyesight back

A former football player who says he is the first person to ever get his eyes back is getting his vision back after nearly two decades in a coma.

Chris Latt, who has battled glaucoma since the age of 15, says his surgery was successful on Thursday.

Latt said he got his sight back after getting a shot of a protein that helps restore the cells in the eye.

The shot was taken at an Ohio hospital.

He is also getting some of his vision in a cataract treatment, Latt said.

His wife, Lisa Latt of Newport Beach, said he has been in a wheelchair since he left the league.

She said she hopes the surgery will help bring closure to a story that has been going on for years.
