Canton, N.Y. (AP) The state is holding off on its own coronavirus coronaviruses vaccine for patients because it still has concerns about how the vaccines are administered and its ability to monitor and contain the pandemic, according to the Ophthalmology Match 2021, a research consortium focused on preventing the coronaviral pandemic.
The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention estimates that about 70 million Americans are at risk for getting a coronavivirus infection after the pandemics last year and this year.
But the CDC says the number of people infected by coronavillavirus and other viruses is expected to increase in 2021.
The Ophthalmologists Association of America, the association of ophthalmic surgeons in the United States, has called on the state to stop its own vaccine, saying it was more effective than the CDC’s vaccine.
State and federal officials say they need to determine how to distribute the vaccines and how best to monitor patients.
The state says it’s also looking into its vaccine options.
A spokeswoman for Gov.
Andrew Cuomo said in an email that the state is not aware of any plans for a new coronavavirus vaccine.
The coronavid vaccine, called ZMapp, is administered through the eye and spinal taps, but is not available for use in the eyes of patients who have had surgery.
The FDA said on Wednesday it was monitoring ZMapps development and development for safety.
A review by the state’s Office of Health Care Policy and Management and the New York State Department of Health and Mental Hygiene concluded that the current ZMavs were effective in preventing severe adverse reactions to ZMervas.
The agency said the state was making an assessment of how best it can deploy the vaccine.
