Experts say the virus is spreading so rapidly in India that the country’s health system is struggling to cope.
The world’s third-largest economy is the most populous in the world and its government is struggling as it tries to contain the coronovirus outbreak.
In India, the virus has infected about 40 million people and killed more than 7,000 people.
India has recorded more than 2,100 deaths in the outbreak, which began on Feb. 7.
India’s health ministry says more than 20 million people have been infected in the first six weeks of this year, while the World Health Organization has said that more than 1.1 million people were infected in India in the same period.
India and Bangladesh have been hardest hit by the virus, with more than a million cases and over 5,000 deaths.
The outbreak is being blamed for a spike in child malnutrition and malnutrition-related diseases in Bangladesh.
Bangladesh has also been forced to cut food imports by more than half, which is helping to fuel the epidemic.
